Longways-striped prayer shawl

This uses four long strips or panels (108 rows, about a skein each) of James G. Davis's V-Stitch Mile-a-Minute pattern in sage, light country blue, sunshine, and orchid, all Caron Simply Soft. Each strip is about 8 inches wide and nearly 6 feet long. Working with them was like being the python keeper at the zoo. I edged them with single crochet in off-white and sewed them together with mattress stitch (instructions available in this blog). Finally I put a single crochet edge around the whole thing.

This one was hard. Each panel had four ends to sew in including the edging (total 16). Each seam had two ends (6). And the outer edging had two ends. That adds up to 24. No wonder I got tired of it. I won't do this pattern again even though the panels go so fast. I'll go back to Shell Stitch 01010.

This one, I kept. I was not satisfied with the appearance of the back. Nice to wrap up in. Gave it to Cousin Madelaine White.
